Trump Plans to Use National Guard to Secure Southern Border; Navy to Help too.

Earlier today, I wrote a blog about President Trump stating that the Military was going to be used to defend our southern border with Mexico.   That statement came while he was in a working lunch with Baltic leaders.

A short while later, while President Trump was holding a joint press conference with the Baltic leaders, I wrote another blog about the joint press conference, in which he stated the sentiment of Military force at our southern border, yet again.  At that time, President Trump stated that he would be discussing details shortly with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

Later today, that meeting with Defense Secretary Mattis happened, along with Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford and Chief of Staff John Kelly. According to a Fox News article,

A White House official revealed later Tuesday to Fox News that the plan considered by Trump would be a “substantial” mobilization of the National Guard.

In Tuesday’s discussion, Trump and senior officials “also agreed on the need to pressure Congress to urgently pass legislation to close legal loopholes exploited by criminal trafficking, narco-terrorist and smuggling organizations,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said. She added that Mattis, Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford and Chief of Staff John Kelly were among the other officials present.

The Pentagon was scrambling to come up with a response to Trump’s statement on the military guarding the border. But according to a memo obtained by Fox News and discussions with officials, one area where the Pentagon could contribute immediately is the Air Force’s Barry Goldwater live-fire range, which shares a 35-mile border with Mexico in southern Arizona.

The Defense Department is already offering some support to the border, including U.S. Navy ships patrolling waters to seize drugs as well as missions involving over 100 personnel from U.S. military’s northern command — including eight planes and a drone — to help border patrol.

Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council, said on Fox News Radio’s “The Todd Starnes Show” that it gives Border Patrol “certainty of apprehension.”

“The criminal smugglers, this is a multibillion dollar industry. They smuggle humans, they smuggle drugs,” he said. “This criminal enterprise, if we arrest the majority of people that cross the border illegally, we put a dent into their criminal enterprise, and if you put a dent into their criminal enterprise, then you can possibly stop them.”

Now that the plan to use actual FORCE at our southern border is starting to take shape, I feel like a little kid that needs to run around in circles in the backyard… again!!  No joke!  It is SO exciting to have a President who not only WANTS to protect our beloved Country, but is actually DOING it!!

While nothing is set in stone just yet, I personally LOVE the mix of National Guard at the physical border, while utilizing Navy ships to deter smugglers.  Adding the planes and a drone too, is AWESOME news!!

Typically it is the Coast Guard that patrols the water to go after drug smugglers, but those awesome Navy ships have a whole lot of bells and whistles that the Coast Guard ships simply just don’t have.  So to have the Navy out there helping out, is a HUGE move in the right direction!

I’m sure there will be more to write about, as the plan comes together to defend our southern border in a more formal fashion, so stay tuned!

In the meanwhile, sleep tight, Patriots!!  President Trump is ON IT!!! #MAGA
